We've hand-picked these items because they are a great choice alongside the Vellamo Savu Single Lever Mono Pull Out Kitchen Mixer Tap

Modern, stylish, trendy; if these are words that could be used to describe your kitchen, then you need a kitchen tap that will fit in and won't look out of place. The Vellamo Savu single lever mono pull out kitchen mixer could be just that tap. With its elegant curves and stunning chrome finish, it is sure to take pride of place atop your kitchen sink or worktop. The handy pull out aerator is ideal if you have a 1.5 bowl or 2 bowl sink, and it allows you to rinse fruit and veg in one bowl whilst the other is still in use. Its swivel function also allows for full flexibility in the kitchen, allowing you to move the tap when required to fit larger items into your sink.

The Savu is the perfect kitchen mixer for the modern kitchen. Its minimalist design is very 'on trend' and is likely to draw a multitude of admirers from far and wide. But like all great kitchen taps, it has another string to its bow. As well as looking fantastic, it is also very practical thanks to its swivel spout and large single lever control. The single lever control allows you to control both the water flow and temperature with just one hand, making it both easy and safe to use.

Like all modern taps, the Savu uses ceramic cartridges to control the flow of water through the spout instead of traditional rubber compression washers. The benefits of ceramic cartridges are that they have a much, much longer life than rubber washers, and due to the way that they operate, once the tap is turned off, it's off - there's no more annoying and costly drips. As a testament to the sheer quality of the Savu, it also comes with a Lifetime guarantee.

Tap aerators are simple but beautifully-engineered devices that save water and money without a perceived loss of pressure. These small attachments are inserted inside the end of the spout and provide a regulated, smoothed and aerated flow of water by separating a single flow into many tiny streams. These streams mix with air as they flow from the tap, meaning less water is needed to achieve the same 'feel' and performance as non-aerated taps.

They can also be purchased separately and retrofitted to most taps, or they can usually be uninstalled if not wanted. They're a great benefit on high pressure systems where the full flow of water is unnecessary, cutting your water bills and helping to reduce wastage. On lower-pressure systems they can help to improve the performance of a tap by adding air to the limited flow of water available. All-in-all, they're pretty awesome.
Taps use either a ceramic disc cartridge or a rubber compression washer to control flow. Rubber washers will naturally wear down with use, and the tap handle will require more and more rotations to turn on or off. On the plus side, it's very easy to replace a rubber washer and they're available everywhere.

Ceramic disc cartridges need only a 90-degree rotation to fully open or close, and the 2 ceramic plates are incredibly hard-wearing and resilient. They're more expensive to make, but they allow for a huge range of designs, easy operation and simple maintenance if needed.

Whilst it is rare for a ceramic cartridge to need replacing, you may very occasionally need to remove and rinse the cartridge if grit or debris within the water system is preventing the 2 plates from closing properly. Much like replacing a rubber washer, this is a quick and easy job, and will ensure many years of use.

This is the minimum recommended hole diameter that this tap needs for installation. Generally, the tap will sit on top of the sink or worktop, and the hot and cold water feeds and fixing bolts will need to slot through the tap hole and be connected underneath. Your hole can be a bit larger than this size, provided it is not larger than the diameter of the base of the tap.

Minimum Water Pressure

Your water pressure depends on your home's water system. It’s important to consider water pressure when buying a new tap or shower. Buying a product with a minimum water pressure that’s too high for your home will result in poor performance.

- With a combi boiler you can usually expect between 1 and 2 bar

- With a gravity system (cold water tank in attic) you may have as little as 0.1 or 0.2 bar upstairs, and perhaps 0.5 bar downstairs

- With a high pressure unvented system (hot water cylinder, no cold water tank) you will generally have between 1 and 3 bar

You can install an item with a low minimum pressure rating on a high pressure system, but avoid installing an item with a high minimum rating on a low pressure system! Read our guide to water pressure to learn more.
