What does it do?
The Vellamo filter removes impurities including chlorine, VOCs, herbicides and pesticides, whilst also improving the taste of your water and reducing limescale build-up.
Just one gram of activated carbon has a surface area of 500-3000m2. 4 grams is equivalent to a football pitch. It is this massive surface area that makes active carbon filters so incredibly effective in removing nasty contaminants and other substances from water.
According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency in the USA), active carbon is very effective in removing at least 81 chemicals, effective in another 30, and moderately effective for 22 more.
It is also the only filter type to remove all 32 identified organic contaminants, including THMs (a carcinogenic by-product of chlorine), and all 14 listed pesticides and 12 herbicides. THMs, which have been found to cause cancer in laboratory animals, are created when chlorine reacts with other organic and inorganic compounds found in water. Carbon filtering removes chlorine and prevents THMs from forming.
The Vellamo filter kit also includes phosphate beads to reduce scale and water hardness through sequestration.

How do I install my filter?
Believe it or not, installing your Vellamo Complete Filter Kit is a far simpler process than you’ve probably imagined. You too can become a member of the ‘beautifully clean water club’ in four simple steps, and luckily for you, they’re listed right below!
Step 1
Turn off the cold water supply and disconnect the cold water tap hose from the supply line.
Step 2
Install the filter diverting valve inline between the incoming cold water supply and the cold water tap hose.
Step 3
Install the filter to the cold water filter diverter valve ensuring the direction of flow matches the arrows on the filter head. For this part, push-fit fittings are supplied to make the process as stress-free as possible.
Step 4
Turn the cold water supply back on and flush the cold water through the tap for 30 seconds.

The important bits
We recommend asking a certified plumber to help fitting your kit if you do not feel confident with the installation steps.
Secondly, maintaining your filter is just as important as installing it correctly. It is recommended that your change your filter cartridge every six months to ensure you continue getting great tasting water every day. Replacement filter cartridges are available and can be purchased at any time, so there’s no stress when it comes to upkeep.
