Hand-picked recommendations to go alongside this product
An exposed shower valve is a wonderful way of adding oodles of period charm to your bathroom. Besides looking breathtakingly fantastic, they provide you with complete showering flexibility and these days have all of the same technology as contemporary showers. Crafted from solid brass and finished in polished chrome, the Stour Exposed Thermostatic Shower Kit from Burlington is the complete package.
The thermostatic exposed valve uses Vernet wax capsules to ensure the water temperature doesn't fluctuate by +/- 1 degree when water is turned on elsewhere in your home. Ceramic disc cartridges within the body of the valve allow for a simple quarter-turn of the controls to fully adjust the flow and temperature. These three white ceramic levers are used to control the flow of the fixed head and handset, with the centrally placed handle adjusting the temperature.
Attached to the rigid riser, which itself has beautifully intricate details, is the fixed shower head with AirBurst and EasyClean technology. AirBurst forces air through the water flow, giving just as much power as a standard shower whilst saving up to 33% water consumption. Both the head and ceramic handset use this technology, in addition to EasyClean silicone nipples which allow you to wipe away any limescale build-up with ease.

Minimum Water Pressure
Your water pressure depends on your home's water system. It’s important to consider water pressure when buying a new tap or shower. Buying a product with a minimum water pressure that’s too high for your home will result in poor performance.
- With a combi boiler you can usually expect between 1 and 2 bar
- With a gravity system (cold water tank in attic) you may have as little as 0.1 or 0.2 bar upstairs, and perhaps 0.5 bar downstairs
- With a high pressure unvented system (hot water cylinder, no cold water tank) you will generally have between 1 and 3 bar
You can install an item with a low minimum pressure rating on a high pressure system, but avoid installing an item with a high minimum rating on a low pressure system! Read our guide to water pressure to learn more.
